Last weekend’s Brews, Brats and Brass-A Different Type of Oktoberfest in Hyde Park was yet another class act event put together by Eat, Drink and Be events! It kicked off on Friday – – when I got there the sun had set and the lineup was great! Brian Sayles, Chicago Yestet, DJ Fathom kicked off the festivities and then the finale for the evening was Big Shoulders Brass Band! They strolled in New Orleans’s style grooving through the audience; their vibe and energy was contagious!
Saturday’s line up did not disappoint! We were treated to sounds from Contrabanda, DJ Sean Alvarez, J-Livi & The Party, Steve Miggedy Maestro, Amir Gray and the Gray Era Brass Band, and the finale was Low Down Brass Band! Art Sims was the MC who kept the crowd entertained and informed in between each set. This was an event for all ages, and was a joy to see the kids dancing around with their parents jamming to the music.
A festival is no festival without FOOD! There were some great vendors, and I had a little bit of everything to satisfy all! Fried pickles, grilled pineapple, lamb chops! YES lamb chops! Anyone who knows me, knows how I feel about lamb chops! Krav had some delicious ones and R.J.C had a variety of brats, but I had my personal favorite, a Chicago style hot dog! I also loved the fact that they offered a few signature cocktails in addition to beer which was great as I am not a beer drinker! My favorite was the margarita!
If you missed this year’s event, please do yourself a favor and add it to your list of to do’s for next year!
