Last week I had the opportunity to check out Lips Chicago for their Grand Opening. When you enter the venue the colors and décor will immediately have you ready for a good time! The hostess and servers were beyond accommodating. The performances by the queens were electrifying!
Our MC for the evening was Miss Shavonna Brooks who happens to be originally from South Shore, I was excited to chat with her after the show and ask her a few questions. Shavonna is THRILLED to be back home and performing at Lips Chicago she has relocated from Lips Atlanta and of course I needed to know what her favorite pizza was which is Southside’s very own Italian Fiesta! She kept the audience laughing the entire show she is absolutely hilarious!
Now on to the food, we went with the Victoria Le Paige Sticky Short Ribs which were so tender and tasty, next up we had the Ari Gato grilled salmon and the Mz Ruff n Stuff grilled steak and frittes both were cooked to perfection! Cocktails were well executed as well my favorite was the Pear Martini and the Ruby Mule. I cannot wait to see what else chef Tom J Schmitt has in store for this Chicago location!

CHICAGO –Lips, the ultimate in drag dining, today announced the Grand Opening date of their long-anticipated Chicago location. Beginning Friday, August 23, Chicago audiences will be able to experience Lips’ one-of-a-kind glitz and glamour, located at 2229 S. Michigan Avenue, joining its lineup of successful venues in New York City, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta.
Featuring a leading cast of nationally-recognized drag talentincluding Chicago drag legends Mimi Marks, Mz. Ruff N’ Stuffand Angel LeBare; Atlanta’sShavonna Brooks;and New York City’s DelilahJ.Brooks;coupled with a menu by leading Chicago chef Tom J. Schmittand a variety of signature cocktails, Lips aims to give Chicago audiences a show like they’ve never seen before.
